The Republican presidential campaign of Nikki Haley said it raked in a $1.2 million spike in donations in one day, after former President Donald Trump vowed to blacklist Haley's donors. The former United Nations ambassador's campaign said it has taken a total of $2.6 million since polls closed in Tuesday's New Hampshire primary, which Trump won by more than 11 points. But polls of the Palmetto State show Haley trailing Trump by much wider margins. On Wednesday night, Trump ratcheted up the pressure on Haley by targeting her donors. "This is standard in Politics, but no longer with me," Trump wrote.

Republican presidential hopeful and former US President Donald Trump gestures as he speaks during a rally in Laconia, New Hampshire, January 22, 2024. A draft resolution making its way through the Republican National Committee would declare Donald Trump the GOP's presumptive 2024 presidential nominee — even as his rival, former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, is still vying for the nomination. The two-page draft notes that Trump easily won the Iowa caucuses and Tuesday's New Hampshire primary, and that he leads in the polls of upcoming primary states, including Haley's home state of South Carolina. It argues, "any money spent from this moment forward in the primary process is better spent fighting the democrats by focusing on President Biden's deadly border crisis, failed economic policies and disastrous and dangerous foreign policy." The document could come up next week at the committee's winter meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to NBC News, which obtained a copy of the draft resolution from an RNC member.

ABC and NBC's streaming services carried a part of Trump live, then left and corrected some of what Trump said. Live coverage of events is the go-to move for cable networks, which thrive on a sense of urgency. “Saturday Night Live” opened its show last week with a spoof of one of those news conferences. Fox News' Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters both did segments on rivals' decisions not to show Trump's Iowa speech in full. On MSNBC Wednesday, Trump's speech received far more attention on “Morning Joe” than it had the night before.

(Reuters) - U.S. presidential contender Nikki Haley has enjoyed a bump in support among voters and donors over the last four months, and is now the lone challenger to former President Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. She is the daughter of two immigrants from India who ran a clothing store in rural South Carolina, and has spoken occasionally about the discrimination her family faced. She took on leadership roles in several business organizations before winning a seat in the South Carolina state legislature in 2004. Haley also appointed Tim Scott, then a U.S. representative from South Carolina, to the U.S. Senate in 2012. UNITED NATIONS AMBASSADORHaley endorsed several rivals to Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential nominating contest, and occasionally tangled with him during the primaries.

Polls show Trump still has a double-digit lead ahead of Tuesday's New Hampshire primary. AdvertisementNew Hampshire is only the second state to vote in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, but some of former President Donald Trump's foes already look desperate. Iowa's Republican caucuses were the first contest, but New Hampshire has gone to great lengths to ensure its primary election is always the first primary. The biggest difference is that unlike Iowa, New Hampshire has a more open primary system. New Hampshire also doesn't have anywhere near the number of white evangelical conservatives that vote in the Republican primary as Iowa does.

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (AP) — Donald Trump is surrounding himself with leaders from Nikki Haley 's home state in a show of strength ahead of Tuesday's New Hampshire primary. Trump, according to his campaign, will be joined at a rally at the NHU Arena in Manchester Saturday night by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, the state's lieutenant governor and a slew of other senior officials, including the state's attorney general, treasurer and House speaker. The appearances are yet another blow from South Carolina against Haley, who is hoping her appeal among independent and unaffiliated voters will propel her to a strong enough finish in New Hampshire to turn the race into a two-person contest against Trump. It comes a day after Trump received the endorsement of South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, who joined him at a rally in Concord. That he was talking about something else, that he was talking about Nancy Pelosi," Haley said.
